Hi dear friends.
I am a new member in this forum, and I am from Albania.
I don't know how many of you know where Albania is or if you have ever met anyone from Albania, or if you know or heard the Albanian language, but I wanted to say that Albanian is one of the oldest language in the Indoeuropean family. In the contrast from English as an analytical language, Albanian is a synthetical language that proves once more that Albanian is as old as Latin and Greece.

Albania is a small country in Blakan. Borderd from Greece on the south, Adriatic see on the west, Monte negro on the North and Macedonia on the East.

If you are interested to know more about Albania and the Albanian language you are invited to ask me in this forum and I wll be more than pleased to give you any information that i know.

:hi: Welcome to the forum. Has Albanian changed much since ancient times? Would someone from those days still understand it? An English speaker from several hundred years ago would struggle with modern English.

What other languages is Albanian closely related to?

Thankyou all for the replies and the interest you have shown about Albanian.
Albanian is a very ancient language and there are hypotheisis that latin is based on Albanian, but still those hypothesies are not proved yet, because of the lack of the wirtten materials to prove that fct.
Alabnian has derived from Ilirian the ancestors of Albanians. The modern Albanian has change a lot from the Ilirian language but the construction of the language is almost the same.
I don't know if you have ever had the chance to see the tree of the Indoeuropean languages, but Alabnian is one of this languages which belongs completely in a separate branch from the other languages of this family.

Ronbee thanks a lot for correcting my mistakes. I am open to any corretion in the future, it really helps me to improve my English.

I hope we don't start a fight about which is the oldest language in Europe. Some people disagree that it's Albanian. The Welsh say it's Welsh, the Basques say it's Basque... We shall probably never know for sure, though.

But it's certainly true that Albanian is older than modern English, and it has its own special category in the Indo-European group, so it's definitely a very special language. I love finding out about unusual and special languages, but I don't have time to learn them :-(
