Dear teachers,

Please read the following sentence:

The suspicion that the servant is dishonest has proved____ true.

a. all too b. much too

'a' is certainly correct. Can I use 'much' modify too true?

I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Thank you in advance.

Have a nice weekend.

People use "all too true" to indicate that they were hoping something was not true but discover to their disappointment that it is indeed true. In my opinion, "much too true" means "excessively true", which I think is strange. It says to me that they thought it was true, but they find it it is more true than they thought.
