Either you are not ready to face the truth or wow! he must be one terrific guy for you to want him inspite of him referring to you as if YOU were the third party and the african lady was his wife. (he has written something about him feeling like he's cheating on HER by being with you!)...

I would prefer "his" there, but "him" is acceptable.

With "his" it is a gerund; with "him", it is a participle. :wink:
