could you help me define the word anticipate? please keep it simple because I did look on dictionary for this word, but the definition is so long... :-(

When you Anticipate, you see the possiblities of how things'd come up in future.
though i m not that much sure,but i always use this word in this context.

It has two meanings to me.

1) To look forward to something : He anticipated the forthcoming concert with excitement.

2) To guess/predict the outcome : The goalkeeper anticipated that the player taking the penalty would aim for the top right-hand corner of the goal, and consequently he made a great save!

It's when you think about something in the future- you could think about a future result or be excited about something.
