Your understanding of the first sentence is correct, but it should be "are."

Your second sentence is incorrect. "Do that" does not belong in there.

It was a typo.

Any of the children are (not is) willing to help the teacher. The sentence means all the children are willing to help the teacher. Is that what you mean?
