Which one is correct?

1- In a span of nine years, Virat Kohli has earned more reputation than any cricketer has ever done in history.

2- In a span of nine years, Virat Kohli has earned more reputation than any other cricketer has ever done in history.

I'm not sure I like 'earned more reputation', but that isn't your question. Apart from that they're both possible but 1 includes Virat Kohli and 2 doesn't. In 2 it would be possible that he 'earned more reputation' than any other cricketer but not as much as he had earned himself in another nine year span.

I'm afraid, "earned more reputation" doesn't work for me at all. Consider, e.g., "built a better reputation" instead. Why is that span of nine years important?

Thank you for the correction, 'the span of nine years' is not important. "Virat Kohli has earned a better reputation than any cricketer/any other cricketer has ever done." Which one should I use now?

Include other and leave out has ever done.
