2. Although they use similar literary devices to express a common theme of death in World War I, the Canadian and British poets differ in their responses to it.

It seems Legion has edited the post.

The difference now is that the poets were writing during WWI in the first one. The second one means they wrote about the war, but not necessarily during the war. They could be writing in the modern era.
