1 The book accounts more for the failure of our fellow students.
2 He has taken away my heart.:)

(Not a teacher)
(1) Most of our fellow students have flunked(US)/failed(UK) in book accounts.
(2) He has swept away my heart or he has broken my heart.

As for your sentences, it seems that the first one doesn't make sense while the second one is fine to me.
