Hey guys!

I'm so confused with this quest: "A" or "An" NBC news?
I thought letter N is a consonant then I chose "An" but it wasn't a correct answer according to the Answer Key
Plz explain this for me

Please use standard English in future posts.

The answer key was wrong and you got the right answer but for the wrong reason.

'N' is indeed a consonant, and when said aloud sounds like 'en'. It's because it begins with a vowel sound that it's preceded with 'an' and not 'a'.

But 'an NBC news' is only right if it's followed by a noun like 'item' or 'piece' or 'report'.... etc. 'News' is no longer countable (although it once was|).

Examples:
I prefer the NBC news.
I was watching NBC news.
I remember an NBC news item about....
