The clothing required to play football is a [football] shirt, shorts, socks, soccer cleats and shin guards".

Note that when I first read your sentence, I assumed you were talking about gridiron (American Football) because you said "jersey". In soccer, the players wear a football shirt. I only realised you were talking about soccer when I reached "soccer cleats" and when I saw that you had not included a helmet or shoulder pads.

Note also that I have changed "equipment" to clothing. The equipment required to play soccer is a football and two nets.

If you use the word "football", remember that the BrE speakers and the AmE speakers will assume you are talking about different sports!

"Equipment" would be OK in AmE to describe the articles worn by the American football player. Or "gear."

I wouldn't refer to padding, shoulder pads, helmets, etc. as "clothing."
