1. They usually go shopping during the weekend.
2. They usually go shopping at weekends.
3. I never work at the weekend.
4. I never work at weekends.

Is there any difference in the above sentences?

I would not use 2 & 4.

I would not use 2 & 4.
I would not use #1, either. Purely my personal thought. I go shopping at the weekend; I never work at the weekend.
