Hi all,

I need your help about this little point of grammar, I am reading the story of USA, but the use of the preposition 'at' in the following sentence stuck me a bit. can you explain me the use of at in this context, here is the beginning sentence:

"At 3.79 million square miles (9.83 million km2) and with over 309 million people, the United States is the third or fourth largest country by total area,.."

Thanks in advance.

"At" in your example is equal to "in the amount of" or "with" or "for a total of". Another example: "At 300 pounds he was the heaviest man on the team."
