I think 'at' here means 'for a short time.' Am I right?
Or it may mean 'I was to lose my control and fall'?

In your sentences 'at' is only a preposition of place.

I got the idea from one of my previous English teachers' handnote which is as follows:
About the preposition 'at,' where to use it:
1. Speed: He was driving at a very high speed.
2. Exact time: I’ll be there at 2:30.
3. Parts of day: at noon, at night, at midnight, at sunrise, at sunset.
4. To give your address: I live at number 22.
5. Instability: I was standing at the station.
6. It shows insultation: I threw the pen at you.
7. With some expressions: at once, at present, at the moment, etc.

#6 –Insultation is a word your teacher made up. You threw the pen towards me.

#5 is just wrong. In point #6, it's the context, not the pronoun that may suggest the speaker's feeling. The word 'insultation' does not exist.
