Hello. I wonder what the underlined part means.
In the story, the boy's mother left him and his father and was going to remarry.


Mom sent us an invitation to her wedding. I wonder how she thought we were going to get there-if we wanted to go. Azif! That's really the end of things, I guess.

I suspect "azif'" is a creative way of spelling "as if", which is used as a response to something that is unlikely to happen, in this case, that the speaker(and maybe some siblings or the other parent, since he said "we") would want to go to his mother's wedding.

I wonder how she though we were going to get there-if we wanted to go. As if (we wanted to go, which we don't)!
