[Grammar] Backpacking to ...

Hello,

I have just read the meaning of the word backpack in the dictionary but I would like to know if the following sentence which I have created is grammaticaly right and sound nice for English people.

Here it is: I go backpacking to Paris (In my mind it's the same thing like to say I go to Paris with my backpack, I am wrong?).

Whatever and though I reckon, I hope you can help my in this way.

Yes, to backpack is the verb that has come from the action of going on holiday with a backpack instead of a suitcase!

As far as your example is concerned, if you reguarly take this kind of holiday to Paris then you can say "I go backpacking to Paris" though you would probably want to add "every year" or "every 3 months" or something.

If you are planning to go, then you would say "I'm going backpacking to Paris (next month, next year, sometime soon)"
or "I will go backpacking...."

Once you are there, you'll say "I'm backpacking in France/Paris".

It seems to me strange to use this word backpack with -ing form, but I believe it is a lot used in English.
