If we "fool around" or "kill time/hang out" in a bar, we call our bavior as "bar-loitering"? I'd like to the popular term that is hot in the US, the UK or Canada etc.

We're hanging out at the bar.

We're bar hopping. (Visiting one bar and then another and another)
We're warming the stools. (We're sitting at the bar drinking)
We went drinking last night. (We went to the bar(s) last night)

All the best, :D
