Hello, teachers.
I have difficulty in understanding the following sentence:
she...speaks of dear Dick and dear Tom for all the world as if they had
been double Baxter-saints. (The Nebuly Coat)
What does "double Baxter-saints" mean? I found out that there was a person called Richard Baxter, 17th century English Puritan church leader, so does the sentence mean "she speaks of Dick and Tom as if they were saints like Richard Baxter"?
