I would like to know what " convicted about" means as in
"Delhi social worker Sanjit "Bunker" Roy was convicted about the poverty of India in his youth and moved to one of the poorest India states to work."

I have looked up the meaning of "convict" but only found its meaning related to someone commits a crime or is found guilty or so, which does not fit in the sentence.

Also, it would be much appreciated if you would provide with sentences using "convicted about" for I don't know if the usage should go with the" be" verb or it's because it should be used in a passive form.

It's not a standard usage in British English, but it could mean that he was so convinced about the poverty that he moved to one of the poorest states.

'Convicted' is not a well-chosen word in this context. The writer may have been looking for 'concerned' - in the sense of affected/perturbed/troubled/moved.

I think that " convicted about" is a rather obsolete way of saying "convinced" or sort of "dedicated to a cause".

It is rarely used anymore. Somewhere I read that "convicted about" was used in a Jane Austen novel which puts such language in the late 1800's.

Phrasesinenglish.org, which takes its data from the BNC, finds no instances of "convicted about". I have often contended that India has its own dialect of English. But there is also plenty of Englsh in Indian newspapers that is just plain wrong. I think "convicted about" belongs in that category.
