Lions ar a fierce beast. OR Lions are fierce beasts.

Which one is correct?

Lions are fierce beasts.
( "lions" being the subject of the sentence needs to take a verb form in the plural )

You could also go for

"The lion is a fierce animal" as a generalized statement

or insert a noun such as species

as in " Lions are [FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]the only truly social cat [/FONT]species "
