You will never see been as a single word, it's always used in a verb phrase (been is the past participle of the verb be):

1. in active voice sentences with perfect tenses used [have/has/had + been]:

I have been here for ages.
She has been in New York ever since she changed her job.
We have been working on this project for a fortnight now.

Natan had been to Rome twice before he went there for the third time.

2. in passive voice sentences with perfect tenses used [have/has/had +been + verb-en]:

They have been sacked.
Pat has been arrested.
I had been interviewed many times before I got that job.
