Hi,

I'd ask for help about the sentence below which I underlined, I really don't know what a weekend conference has might to do with walking across a fire and so on. And what does "bend arrows" refer to?

You can read this book—or any business book—and get excited for a moment. But being obsessed is not a small idea, and you will meet resistance.
This is not a weekend conference where you walk across a fire, bend arrows, or break boards.

Some misguided companies force employees to spend a weekend at events called "team-building conferences" where they engage in various activities meant to foster camaraderie. Such activities may include fire-walks (walking across glowing embers, best done at night so everyone can see the ominous red glow from the coals), bending arrows (I haven't heard of this one), or breaking boards with your fist or your foot.

Fire-walks are sometimes presented as stunning examples of mind over matter. They're really demonstrations of the phenomenon of specific heat capacity and thermal conductivity.

Bending a bow, rather than an arrow, makes more sense to me.
