I'd never heard the phrase until you posted the question. Of course, I know the word "blackout" and I can see why they have used it to describe this kind of doughnut, but as far as translation goes, I'm not sure whether you should leave it in or not. If any readers have never seen those doughnuts, they won't know what it means either!
