I am wondering if my sentences sound natural. Would you please correct my mistakes?

Bob leaned over the bridge railing. He breathed in the cool air and looked at the fish swimming in the calm, clear water. He wished he was a fish and swam to the south.

In the last sentence, it's not obvious who swims to the south. Bob or the fish?

(Post #2 assumes you mean the fish. Your use of and swam suggests Bob.)

jutfrank,
I think it is clear that Bob wished he were a fish swimming to the south.

It was clear from the context but the words (and swam) were confusing.
