[Idiom] Break out a word

Hello,

I would like to ask you about the usage of "break out" in the following sentence that I heard Seth Meyers saying:

I normally don't break out the word "racy" unless I am absolutely sure something is racy.

I leave it in my collection of unused words. When I really need it, I take it out. "Break out" is an expression meaning "take out of storage".

He is saying that he only uses the words when he really means it- something that could be interpreted as a little bit racy is not what he calls racy.
