Your answer brought is incorrect. took is the correct answer for

The manager just ____ John to his office. I hope everything is ok.

why, In this sentence, is the answer " brought" incorrect ?

Please somebody teaches me the rule to use bright or take, i know that if i want say "something" from there towards me, i use "bring" and if instead i want to say "something" from me to there, so move away from me, i use take.
but it's enough ?

thanks

It's more usual with "took" but "brought" is possible.
