In a context of producing mobile and TV video, I've found this snetence:

Ancillary content builds off the existing production and the costs are low"

Please, what does it mean "build off"?

Thank you. :-D

I haven't come across this form of words, though presumably, to judge from the context, it combines the meanings of 'builds/thrives on' and 'feeds off' - the production of 'ancillary content' takes advantage of the resources used in the production of regular content. I'd be surprised if this was not something about web-pages; the providers of online information usually talk about 'generating content' (that is, producing the stuff that you see on a web-page).

 - I see you said what the context was. Anyway, my guess wasn't too far off the mark... ;-)
