Trump ran on an America first platform. He thinks China is taking advantage of America on trade deals. The meeting with the Chinese president obviously did not yield any significant results on trade. He said "only time will tell" because he thought he forged a good relationship with Mr. XI and hoped in the future we can get better trade deals with China.
