[Idiom] cake work

A whole bunch of other waiters were brought in for the party, and we all wore these short white jackets, black pants, and white gloves. It was pretty cake work. We were each assigned to a table and had to shuttle back and forth to the kitchen, bringing out the food. Basically, all I had to do was make sure I didn't spill anything.

I'm familiar with cakewalk or piece of cake. Is "cake work" the same thing and used often?

I've never heard or used it. I can't think of a plausible typo though. There is the term 'hack work' (=boring/prosaic/everyday/untaxing/requiring no original thought), but even if there was such a gross typo, 'pretty hack' doesn't work; it would have to be 'pretty much hack work'. I don't think this can be right, but it's the best I can do.

PS To refer to easy work that requires little effort, there is the idiom 'money for old rope' - not an answer, but could be a useful new bit of vocabulary. ;-)
