It seems that confidence might be one word for that. I'm not sure how you look important, but that seems to be what that means. They calmly look important.

The second sentence is from "The Red Pony" by John Steinbeck" and the first is what Russian poet Nekrasov wrote about Russian women:

There are women in Russian villages
