Do this indirect question correct or not?if not,why not?

Sentence:could you tell me what the difference is between these?

What is difference between these?
1.the horse stoped
2.the horse came to a halt stop.
3.the horse came to a stop.
...................................................................................................................
what does this sentence exactlly mean?I am really confused about(she asked her man).
Sentence:"what is your name"She asked her man.
additional details:

I have read this sentence in the book(love among the haystack),but the man is a tramp man not her man,or her love or her husband,,
I would like to know why does the writer used this sentenceher man).

There's no difference between them.
