Why does howjsay.com pronounce the final "s" in Albert Camus while Daniel Jones does not? Aren't there any rules and regulations regarding the pronunciation of foreign words, especially proper names,in the English language?

Why does howjsay.com pronounce the final "s" in Albert Camus while Daniel Jones does not? Aren't there any rules and regulations regarding the pronunciation of foreign words, especially proper names,in the English language?

No active rules.

Those who are educated will know the correct pronunciations, but there are many who will not have heard names in their correct form and will use English forms. It is difficult to know when to correct people without offending them!

Normally I would expect Camus to be said without the final "s", but would not be surprised to hear it said with it.
