Q. Should teachers give their students challanging tasks? State your opinions with reasons and examples.
It is a fact that teachers are the most important part of a nation as they build the foundation of society by teaching the young generation about academics, ethics and knowledge about practical life. I completely agree that good teachers set challenging tasks for their students. I believe this due to several reasons.
The first reason I believe this is children's ignorance about their own potentials. Teachers know better that knowledge from books alone is not enough in today's competitive world. Students should be aware about all the areas in order to establish themselves in better educational and employment institutions. For example, when teachers ask to prepare projects and thesis, students have to struggle through reference books and internet in order to create good projects and get better grades. This enhances their knowledge about fields other than their majors.
Another reason is that good teachers always want their students to be intellectual. Thus, many teachers, now days, force their students to perform in activities or contests that need logical reasoning abilities. This increases the reasoning skills of students leading them to a quest for learning that helps the students in getting good degrees, high paying jobs and social status.
However, many may believe that students can learn without such challenging tasks as well. But regular studies and exams can never provide them a broad prospective for growth and improvement and motivation to compete with the rest of the world. In order to reach the great heights of success, every individual has to go through difficult scenarios because experience always proves to be helpful in practical life.
To sum up, I would say that teacher efforts of providing challenging tasks to students is only for the betterment of students as these teachers have already succeeded in their lives. These struggles, they allot to students, make the students more prepared to face the hard times as well as the knowledge gained through such tasks assist them in their future growth.
