1) Many amatuer soccer player don't play as a team, they usually play individually as the don't pass the ball to their teamates so often.

I have made corrections in red above, but I don't think either of your sentences flowed very well. My suggestion would be:

Many amateur soccer players are not good at teamwork (or at playing as a team). They play as individuals and don't pass the ball as often as they should.

The first 5 online dictionaries all list "teammate" as a single word. This is the word I'm familiar with.
