"Carefully" in my sentences

I am confused by the place of "carefully" in my sentences. Where should put it?

1. "I carefully wrote down the note in order not to forget it.

2. "I wrote down the note carefully in order not to forget it."

Either one works, but #1 suggests a little more emphasis on how you wrote it.

You could also use Carefully, I wrote down....

We normally just write a note. Did somebody dictate this to you?

Your "carefully" is fine in either place, but there are other problems:

- As mentioned above, we don't write DOWN notes. We either write a note or write DOWN information, like "I wrote down his phone number" or "She wrote down the directions."

- TO REMEMBER is much more natural than NOT TO FORGET.

It's also natural to say "I wrote down his phone number SO I WOULDN'T FORGET it."

- A note doesn't get written down. It gets written. The information IN the note is written down.

- Your "it" refers to "note." That's wrong. You don't want to remember the note. You want to remember the information IN the note: "I wrote the note in order to remember to bring her flowers."
