What meaning can the notion "ceiling tiles" have here? just common ceiling tiles or it is some measurement unit?

"Air conditioning diffuser vents should be at least two ceiling tiles away from the unit..."

It is referring to the distance needed between the diffuser vent and the actual unit. There should be a minimum distance of two ceiling tiles between them.

It doesn't actually matter what kind of tiles are on the ceiling.

Assuming that ceiling tiles come in different sizes, this statement refers either to particular ceiling tiles somewhere or to an industry standard.
