Hi everyone,

I am trying to fill in the CELTA application and I need help.

Can anyone help me to answer the following questions:

Part Three – Vocabulary

How would you explain to a learner of English the difference in meaning and form between the following pairs / sets of underlined words?

3.1 (to an intermediate level student):
1. Qatar’s economy is growing at the moment.
2. His car is very economical.
3. She studied economics at university.

3.2 (to a pre-intermediate level student – and please indicate the part of speech for these items):
1. He made me feel embarrassed.
2. I’ve always been an introvert.

3.3 (to an elementary level student):
1. She smiled at her son.
2. Her son frowned at her.

Welcome to the forum. :hi:

As Piscean said, the application is designed to test your knowledge and ability to explain English grammar. It's not designed to test us! The people assessing the application have no interest in how well you can use the internet to get the answers. You need to complete the application to the best of your ability and, if your English is up to the required standard, you'll get a place on the course. If not, you can take the opportunity to improve your own knowledge and understanding of the language and then, if you still want to, apply again in the future.

Good luck with your application.
