I have a question.
If there is someone who lived in this period - 1757-1827 - how can we [STRIKE]know[/STRIKE] say in which century [STRIKE]did[/STRIKE] he lived [STRIKE]in[/STRIKE] ?

He was born in the 18th century and died in the 19th century. If he was famous for something he did in the early part of his life, he would probably be described as "an 18th century writer/artist etc".
