Hi there,

1. What is the difference between 'chance' and 'opportunity'?
Are they interchangable in most cases?

2. What is the difference between 'offer' and 'provide'?
Are they interchangable in most cases?

Thanks
pete

They aren't always interchangeable- if you get an interview for a job, it sounds more natural to describe that as an opportunity than as a chance. If you doing something whose outcome is purely down to luck, like the roulette wheel, thatwould be chance not opportunity.

If you provide sonmething, you supply it, but if you offer, you say you are prepared to do or provide something, but it is dependent on the other people accepting. You can decline most offers.
