I wish I was a Selfish Giant;then winter prevailed on my house only all year long and I would not have to suffer from the heat of the summer.

Check the underlined part. Is it ok?

I would say 'then winter would prevail' and remove 'only'.

The underlined part will be compatible with the rest of the sentence if you make TDol's suggested changes.

I would question a person's ability to change the climate merely by being a giant.

This is in connection with the fairy tale "The selfish giant" by Oscar Wilde. I wrote the sentence to make a joke, not a serious one.
