Nobody before Jane Goodall fully understood chimp behavior.

Why isn't "chimps' behavior" used instead?

What is the difference between "chimp behavior" and "chimps' behavior"?

Thanks!

When we make compound nouns, we almost always put the first one in the singular.

I have dented the car door.
Lion behaviour is very unpredictable.
I think we should do something about child marriage.

Mind you, chimps' behaviour would work. It may sound more anecdotal and a bit less scientific, though.
