Hello everybody,
Would someone help me out grasp the differences among the words class, lesson and lecture? I often mix them up and get confused.
I think class refers to
1) a group of people being taught something
2) the time during which this group is taught
First of all, I can't get the difference between the second meaning of class and the meaning of lesson.
Lecture gives me the idea of something more formal.
Anyway, I don't think I would be able use any of them properly.
Hope you can help me.
Thank you

A lesson = a piece of instruction OR a division of a course of study.

Lessons are taught to a class = a group of students who are taught together regularly and, by extension, the period in which this group are together to learn.

A lecture is a formal talk on a serious or specialist subject given to a group of people, especially students
