I am wondering if my sentences are grammatically correct.

Clive regularly went to a quiet Greek island on holiday until charter loads of tourists started arriving. He went to town centre one evening, and what he saw disgusted him so much that the next morning he took the first ferry and never returned.

In the second sentence you need "the" before "town".

Consider using, e.g., "out" or "back home" after "ferry" in that sentence.

Teechar is absolutely right. Say "he took the first ferry out" or "he took the first ferry leaving the island" or something like that.

Sorry I missed that!
