I am wondering if my sentences are grammatically correct.

Clive rolled up the sleeves of his shirt, took a spade and started digging in his garden. The air was hot and humid and soon he bathed in sweat.

He rolled up his shirtsleeves. There's a word missing from the second sentence.

Should say this?

He bathed in the sweat.
