Dear teachers,
Would you be kind enough to tell me whether I am right with my interpretation of the expression in bold in the following sentence?
Banks had been failing all through these states for months, and now even this bank, which had seemed to him, to be eternal, would be obliged to close its doors. (Wilder’s “Heaven’s My Destination”)
close its (one’s or the) doors = suspend the activity; close down
Thank you for your efforts.
Regards,
V.
