My voca-book says "coefficient" has the meaning of "cooperating" or "co-functiong". Is this a normal usage other than its basic meaning of "a number used for math"?

In my experience coefficient is exclusively a mathematical term. I have never seen it used otherwise and I disagree with the definitions "cooperating" and "co-functioning". So do many dictionaries.

It's defined as below, but as you said, I have never heard of such definition, either, and I don't know why the writer of the voca-book inserted it in it.
