We're stuck. We cannot decide between:

We don't make movies; our movies make us.

and

We don't make movies: our movies make us.

Please help.

Thanks.

A colon :)) is like a pointing arrow (i.e., Follow me :-D ), whereas a semicolon (;) is a pause (i.e., stop and think  ).

We don't make movies: (=>) our movies make us.
We don't make movies; (pause) our movies make us.

Both are fine.

You'll have to decide.
