She was still quite upset, although she had won the Oscar.
(This comma use is correct because it is an example of extreme contrast)

I don't understand why the comma is here.

Winning the Oscar is a great thing. There's no reason to be upset. It is exactly as you describe - a big contrast between being upset and having something great happen.

What is the difference between these two?

She was still quite upset athough she had won the Oscar.
She was still quite upset, although she had won the Oscar.
