'Complaint' or 'Claim'

Which do you prefer, 'complaint' or 'claim'
in the following situation?
"If you purchase a defective product, you
must write a complaint / claim letter to the company."

I'd call that a 'complaint'. A claim is for money, from an insurance company or as compensation. ;-)

I agree with TDOL. One doesn't write a claim; one makes/files a claim.
