compliment (s ) ?

When someone praises you about something you've done.

Should we say ' Thanks for the compliment or compliments ' ? In my opinion, it should be in plural form to mean the general compliments but how about only one compliment from the person concerned ?

eg. A. You really did a great job. I doubt anyone else can handle it that way.

B. Thanks for the compliment(s) ?

In the above example, Fran made two statements, but there were not, in my opinion, different enough to be two separate compliments. In other words, she said "You did a great job" then she embellished it somewhat. If she had said something complimentary about two different things the "Thanks for the compliments" would be in order.
