If I place a coordinating conjunction in a sentence between two phrases, will the resulting sentence be a compound sentence?

Hello Ak,

In a compound sentence, a coordinating conjunction connects two sentences.

Thus:

1. He called her name.
2. She turned round.

To make a compound sentence from the two sentences above, we can connect them with "and", i.e.

3. He called her name and she turned round.

Best wishes,

MrP
